Don't Operate It for More Than 15 Minutes at a Time

If your establishment is filled with people waiting for their orders, the last thing you want to do is slow your roll or take breaks. However, giving the machinery a break is an important step in meat grinding. Take breaks between orders to give the equipment a chance to cool down. If you don’t do this, then you risk your grinder overheating and breaking down.

Grind the Meat in Phases

It’s important to prepare the meat before grinding it. Chop it into thin slices, or mince it. Then, slowly feed it into the machine. If you try putting it all in at once, then the grinder could overheat from friction or break down entirely. Grinding in phases keeps this from happening and improves the longevity of your meat grinder. Preventing your meat grinder from overheating will reduce the chance you’ll have to stop operations until you repair or replace it.

Chill the Meat Before Grinding

We recommend chilling your meats before feeding them into the grinder. The friction of the grinder won't cause it to heat up when grinding cold meat, making overheating far less likely. If you were to put room temperature or warm meat into your grinder, you're far more likely to cause it to overheat.
